About Nigel Waddington

Civil, Commercial and Workplace Mediator

About Me

I am a Civil, Commercial and Workplace Mediator, registered to practise in the UK by the Civil Mediation Council.

I built a practice through taking on a broad case-load of consumer disputes before being invited to join the mediator panel of ADR Group. This is one of the UK’s longest established, leading ADR providers, highly recommended to anyone needing a mediation set up fast and efficiently. My private work comes by personal recommendations and through this website.

During my legal practice as a barrister I witnessed disputes in their numerous forms in the civil and criminal courts and now maintain a door tenancy at Lamb Chambers, Temple, London. In addition to my mediation work I train lawyers, judges and other mediators. In London I have trained hundreds of graduates for the English Bar, some of whom are now King’s Counsel, and currently provide their mediation training at the Law School of City University.

I am a faculty member of the Central and Eastern European Law Institute in Prague, where I have run workshops for lawyers practising in all the Balkan countries. I have worked in Albania and North Macedonia for the American Bar Association to develop internship programmes for law firms. I have worked with members of the Chamber of Mediators in Kosovo to study the value of mediation in the context of post-war ethnic tension and political unrest.

I am asked to speak at conferences and to deliver masterclasses in mediation, which have earned me Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. I contribute to the profession as a member of the Ethics Working Party of the Civil Mediation Council.

I run my practice from Guildford, Surrey, enabling face-to-face mediations in London, the Midlands and South East.

“Mr Waddington conducted the day in an efficient, effective manner. He ensured both parties understood the way in which the day would proceed and then made sure the timetable was adhered to. He maintained total impartiality and took time to fully comprehend the perspective of each party, whilst working extremely hard to move the discussion forward in a positive way.”
